The splendid Royal Psalter of Sainte-Chapelle is edited for the first time as a perfect, original facsimile edition. A masterpiece of Gothic Art, one of the most beautiful Psalters of French book-painting and a unique object presented in a jewelry box and with a noble „chemise“, commissioned by Charles V, as well as the magnificent cassette made of fine wood in the 19th century, protects the valuable facsimile as authentic replica. The luxurious book cover is made of precious golden satin and richly decorated with royal lilies. The inside is covered with blue velvet and intricate embossing and the gold-embossed lilies of the French monarchs give it a majestic look.
The Royal Psalter was presumably created for Blanche de Castille, the mother of King Louis the Saint, and with its ornate miniatures and luxurious gold decoration it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful creations of French book art in the 13th century.
